I've been here a couple of times over the past few years and the food and service have always been good. This past time I went with a few friends to have some drinks and dinner for me. It was a late dinner for me at 9:00 on a Saturday night and I was pretty hungry when we arrived. We sat at the bar and I asked for a menu first thing. Started out with the Shrimp Lejoh they were diclinous, really you can put bacon around anything and I would like it but the shrimp were nice and fresh. Then I had the Italian Roast Beef sandwich comes with sautéed spinach and sharp provolone. It came on a long roll and I didn't expect that it was a big excellent sandwich. Also this place has a good beer selection. No offence to Clifton, I'm a Darby guy but this place doesn't seem to be a Clifton type bar. It's like a Philly gastropub in Delaware County like one of those fancy places popping up all over East Passyunk and the like.

It's with a heavy heart that I write this review, which comes with no malicious intent, just a desire to see improvements in what could be a great neighborhood pub. The first time I had dinner here, it was ok. I had the chicken and waffle. While the waffle was a little dry, but the dish had good flavor, and the fried pickles we had as an app were above average. The second time I went in, I again ordered the chicken and waffle. This time, I could definitely tell that the waffle had been pre-frozen, and then reheated. It definitely was not made fresh. It was as dry as sawdust and actually a little bit hard like a cracker. It also had a freezer burn flavor. The third time I went in, I decided to order something different. I got the clam chowder and the beet salad. The chowder was so over salted I could barely eat it. Worse than that, though, it was full of sand. There is nothing worse than eating something and biting into sand. Nearly every bite was horribly crunchy. The beet salad was also very dry, and extremely diminutive for its $9 price tag. It was essentially one cup of spinach topped with a little bit of goat cheese and beets out of the jar. The dressing was drizzled on so sparingly that the spinach underneath was bone dry even after mixing everything up thoroughly. It was nowhere near enough dressing to evenly coat the whole salad. I also tasted my husband's roast beef sandwich. Again, this was dry to the point I could only take one bite. Normally, since roast beef is a lean meat, it is served with either au jus or some kind of sauce to moisten it. Not here. Instead, the beef was thrown onto a roll with no sauce, and topped with plain steamed spinach and a small amount of provolone cheese. When I asked for horseradish sauce I was given a bowl of plain unflavored horseradish right out of the jar. Again--bone dry. The roast beef was also over salted. The first two times, I tried their dessert and both times, it was inedible. It was far from fresh and has obviously been frozen for an extremely long time. It had that gummy texture that comes from freezing too long and then defrosting. The service was slow the last time I was there, even though there was just one other person in the whole place. I am really disappointed because this pub is so convenient to where we live and it has the potential to be something great. They need to completely ditch the frozen food and put their efforts into proper seasoning and texture of freshly made dishes made from high quality ingredients. They should also forget about dessert unless they're willing to get them in fresh or make them there. As of now, sadly, I won't be back.

This is my favorite place to eat, very clean and the service is Great. I start with an order of Crab fries, there is nothing like it, they are incredible. Then I usually order the Italian Roast pork sandwich (it has sauteed spinach in it) and a side of sweet potato waffle fries. Beer is always Ice cold, Love this place.

You know you are busy when you cannot see your friend from Chicago in Chicago, so you have to hang out with her in Philly! lol It was an awesome coincidence that both my friend, Sarah, and I were traveling for business at the same time. So, I used the Yelp app (love technology) to find a place in between where we both were staying. Again, thanks to Mapquest, I met Sarah here at Broadway Bar & Grill. It was a quiet Thursday night and there were a few other tables occupied. It was a nice, quiet vibe so her and I could catch up! They had a nice selection of beers and the food portion was generous. I ended up eating only half of my food and bringing the rest back for the next day. Great food, good service, good beer selection. Cute little place, nestled in a regular neighborhood in Philly. It was cool to go to a place that was a little off the "normal" path. I'm glad to have found, what I believe, was a hidden gem to us out-of-towners.

This is a very nice small-ish corner bar in Clifton Heights. They stand out from the other bars in the area with a descent beer selection (meaning other than Yuengling, and the bud/miller/coors), and also they're smoke-free. The food menu is pretty good as well. I've had their chicken wings, and a few other things from here, and the food's always been good. They're a little off the beaten-path, tucked into a neighborhood, right across the street from the Clam Tavern. It's a nice, up-to-date version of a cozy, neighborhood bar.

Something happened in the time that I wrote my initial review. Broadway changed their food menu, which is now pretty limited and not nearly as tasty, and they must have had a change in staff. The wait staff is now not nearly as attentive and almost seem disinterested in providing good service. Overall, very disappointing and strange.

According to their website, they open at 12pm on Sundays so when we tried to go in at 2:55pm yesterday, we we're surprised to find they were closed. The hours on the door showed that they actually don't open until 3pm, so we decided just to wait a couple of minutes. We saw someone inside, but they refused to even acknowledge us even though he clearly saw us at the door. By this point, it's probably 2:59pm. It's super hot out, and I'm super pregnant, and we're just hanging out on the steps. A simple 'Just give us another couple of minutes' would have been greatly appreciated, but instead we were just flat-out ignored. I get it that you don't open until to 3pm, but your website says otherwise. We were not rude customers trying to force our way in early...we were customers who were misinformed by your website. 1 star based solely on their lack of customer service. We left at 3pm and grabbed lunch elsewhere.

Last minute dinner here tonite. Bartender and server very friendly. Fresh well prepared food and great apps! Loved the fried pickles! Can't understand why we were the only people there.

On the recommendation of a friend my boyfriend and i tried this place out. I'm not the biggest fan of hanging out in clifton but this place was very good. We went on a Sunday night and they were dead so we lucked out. We got great service and the food was good. I got a chicken quesadilla and side of Mac and cheese. Wow the side could have been a meal in it self for 4 bucks. They menu is more of a sandwich shop with some crazy specials and some clams since it's the same owner as the restaurant across the street. I image this places gets lots of overflow business from the clam. I heard the waitress say they are going to have live music soon starting around 6. I think that is all i can remember. I liked the food i wanna try the perogies next time. Check it out.

We love the Clam Tavern so decided to give the Broadway a try so we stopped in rather early (after 5:30) on a Friday night. I expected a typical bar crowd for a Friday night but the place was empty except for two guys at the small bar. Although empty, it was still pretty noisy from the multiple TVs at the bar. A young waitress came over shortly and told us the specials and took our drink orders. Be warned: their tap selection is very limited. She was not very attentive so we decided against an appetizer because I didn't want it arriving at the same time as our food. My wife ordered a bacon cheeseburger, medium rare, and I ordered a special, southern style fried chicken breast over their jalapeno waffle with a side of cajun rice and waffle fries. Shortly after ordering the restaurant suddenly got very busy (and NOISY). It appeared that there was only three waitresses with one acting as bartender. I only mention that because our waitress eventually brought our order out and never returned until we were finished. I wish she had because my wifes burger was over-cooked but we thought it was the kitchen's fault. Frankly, my fried chicken over the waffle was unimpressive. The waitress said it was boneless chicken breast so I assumed it would be a whole breast but it was four finger-like pieces of chicken. They were on the large size but, being from a southern family, they were in no way southern style. I expected something better for $16.99 and was very, very disappointed. KFC is a better value and better chicken in my opinion. The sweet potato waffle fries were good but the cajun rice was another bland disappointment. My wife reported that the burger had no real flavor and she barely ate half because it was overcooked. There was an upcharger for fries instead of chips with the burger. Bottom line: we will not be returning. There are much better sports bars with better, cheaper food in the area. For $31 plus tip (one draft Coors Light and water included) I can get much better value. Oh yeah - after we got home I noticed that at the bottom of the receipt was marked "medium well" so it wasn't the kitchens fault after all. We should have known since she did not write down our order. I feel foolish for tipping her as much as I did. Lesson learned...

Just a neighbor bar and restaurant, but with very good food. I've eaten here several times, as well as ordering take-out. When a group of 6 ordered take-out, everything came out correctly. If you're looking for a casual place to go, with something a little different on the menu, you have to try it out. The open-face meatloaf on the cheddar jalapeno waffle is wonderful. It also came with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. The fried pickles are very good along with the dipping sauce.

I'm a fan of The Broadway. The food is good, the prices are decent and the atmosphere is VERY welcoming. Goes well with the owner! Many times he comes into the dining/bar area and greets guests. Very friendly. The staff knows how to take care of you. They could use a few more varieties behind the bar but, chances are they can make whatever you order. The nachos rock, the chili is great and the fried pickles are THE BEST! Not to mention the Crab Fries my wife and her sister go CRAZY for everytime! If you haven't been there, GO! It's soooo worth leaving the kids in your neighbors sandbox for a few hours!

Tried The Broadway for the first time last night and we were very happy with our experience. We chose to eat at the bar. The service was excellent. The bar/restaurant was spotless and the noise level was just right. I had the Thanksgiving dinner complete with Turkey, Stuffing, Mash potatoes, Broccoli and Gravy. Yummy. My husband had the Meatloaf Platter which was also tasty. Both dishes were large. In addition we had pierogies and clams casino appetizers which were both delicious and perfectly portioned. We are regulars at the Clam Tavern which is owned by the same gentleman, Tony. I would definitely recommend The Broadway to friends and family. So if you haven't tried it and you have a craving for some comfort food, stop in. You won't regret it.

Broadway is hit or miss. I live nearby so it's decent enough that I'll keep it a regular stop. The food all depends on what you order, I've had great meals there and not so great meals. The service is usually pretty good, the staff is generally friendly and welcoming.

I'm a fan! Great food and friendly staff. Same owner as Clam Tavern. We love both places. The waffles are a nice treat.

This is a great neighborhood restaurant / bar. The space is open, clean, bright and welcoming. The staff (especially Carolyn!) is fantastic, and the food is even better. The huge portions make Broadway a value every day, but their specials are over the top! $1 tacos on Taco Tusday, $0.50 wings (amazing wings) during Phillies and Eagles games, $1 hot dogs during games, Thanksgiving Thursdays. Check this place out, you wont regret it!

I can't believe this place wasn't even on the Yelp map! Then again, restaurants in Clifton Heights rarely do. Typically this area is not really known for great food but Broadway is a hidden gem that is totally worth visiting. Right next to The Clam Tavern, which is not only another great restaurant but its sister restaurant, Broadway is a sports bar and restaurant that offers quality food, especially their seafood items. Let's just say I've been here twice in one week and the waitress recognized me so quickly that she said "We have some specials that you probably already know about." The decor itself it really nice, especially for a sports bar and for being where it is, that you will forget that you're in Clifton Heights! Our waitress was friendly and efficient, checking with us several times to make sure we were doing OK. The first time I ordered a crab cake sandwich with cucumber wasabi sauce which was one of the best things I've tasted in a while, along with a side of chips that they make themselves (thick cut and perfectly crispy). The second time I got the western grilled chicken cutlet sandwich with bacon and cheese which was also very tasty. My friend got the Thanksgiving Roll Sandwich that had turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce with a side of sweet potato waffle fries. They also had a shaker of cinnamon sugar for those fries which was pretty sweet. Drinks are quite reasonable; my friend got a dram of Dewers for $4.50 and Coors bottles are $2 during Phillies games. I already convinced a couple friends of mine to go there and they were equally as impressed; they plan on making it their regular lunch spot. If you're ever in the area and need a good, affordable place to grab a bite, this is your go to!

The service was TERRIBLE. The bartender was drinking the entire night and only paying attention to her visitors... my girlfriends and I who were PAYING customers barely got any service. They actually mocked us as we were leaving for being "too young" and we're all in our mid twenties. If they thought we were too young, which we weren't, then they shouldn't have been serving us in the first place. I would not recommend this establishment to any of my friends, the people are completely disrespectful.

We moved to Delco about 9 months ago and have been looking for a decent bar/place to go for drinks and apps. This place seems to fit the bill quite nicely. I've only been once, but was impressed with the service and the atmosphere. The menu is definitely more simple that what I'm used to from south Philly/Center City, but I've found that things are much different in the burbs, so I'm not complaining. Overall, my wife and I had a great time and think we've found our neighborhood hangout.

Tony Blanche, owner of the Clam Tavern, has opened a new, terrific spot! Since moving here from Detroit six years ago, I have searched for a clean, friendly corner joint with awesome food....and THIS IS IT! The menu: Tony's mom's recipes, cooked like a mom would make. If you grew up on polish food (like I did) you could search forever for periogies like these! Carmelized onions, beautifully sauteed (but not crisp) homeade pierogies....felt like Christmas! Serious sandwiches (partner had the roast beef with sauteed spinach brocolli rabe style), a house salad that rocks (not to mention the wedge), and mac and cheese just like mom's, if your mom was an awesome down home cook! The place is redone, clean, beautiful, and flat screens abound. The bartenders are friendly. The drinks are hefty. The menu boasts a wide variety and includes the Clam's famous baked clams. They are open from dinner on during the week and during the day on the weekends. I hear they will have live entertainment soon. This is an oasis in the dessert of delaware county corner bars. I have searched and searched...finally a place I can call home away from home!

Children, this is as close to a Philadelphia-style gastropub you will get in Delaware County. A little hard to find, but you'll be glad you did. Went there last night with 3 friends. The Clam across the street was an hour wait, (with good reason - it's goood) so we went across the street to The Broadway. Was a good move. Nice clean recently renovated space - Good selection of beer on tap, good interesting menu. they had a Friday lenten menu. We shared crab fries and fought over the last one, shared periogies, with sauteed onions, I had the fried fish platter with real mashed potatoes and fresh broccoli, friends had the shrimp po'boy and loved it. Owner came by and made sure everyone was happy, friendly bar. Gave it 4 stars because I was a little disappointed in the fried fish this time. I've gotten the flounder at the Clam and is absolutely best around - just didn't like the fish last night very much. Everything else was 5 star. You really can't go wrong here.

We wanted to try something new tonight so we decided to try the Broadway. We walked in and the place was refreshingly clean. It's loud and has a bar feel with all the TVs and the loud music. We ordered the clams casino which were flavorful but did not have a whole clam at the bottom, just clam bits throughout. Along with the appetizer we were brought some cheddar jalapeño waffles with syrup and butter. They can also come with the entree; interesting idea but not for me. We ordered the meat loaf and the turkey dinner. Both came with delicious mashed potatoes with gravy and a side of steamed broccoli. The turkey also had a side of stuffing and cranberry sauce. Both plates were huge, I took 1/2 of the turkey dinner home. The entrees were $13.99. The two entrees, the clams casino, a Blue Moon beer, plus a 20% tip was $50. Service was a bit rushed. Not sure if this was because they were expecting a big party or if it was something else but it could be better. If you want a home style meal, this is nt a bad choice.
